Back-Country

Backcountry offers serene, estate-style living with nature, privacy, and timeless countryside charm.

Welcome to Backcountry

Backcountry Greenwich offers a true escape into nature, with expansive properties, winding roads, and a countryside feel that sets it apart from the rest of the town. Located north of the Merritt Parkway, this area stretches from the New York border across to Stamford and is defined by its wide-open space, privacy, and natural beauty.

Recreation here leans more rustic than coastal. The Babcock Preserve, a 300-acre nature sanctuary, is perfect for hiking and horseback riding, while Parkway School offers local ballfields and a playground. Beaches and marinas are farther south, but easily accessible by car.

The area is home to several prestigious private clubs, including Tamarack, Stanwich, and Fairview Country Club. While shopping and dining are limited, there’s a small retail cluster in Banksville with a deli, general store, and liquor shop. For a sit-down meal, La Crémaillère in nearby Bedford, NY, is a local favorite.

Most residents rely on the Merritt Parkway for commuting, with the Greenwich Train Station about five miles away. There’s no public transportation in Backcountry—just quiet roads, open skies, and some of the most peaceful living Greenwich has to offer.
